All meetings are held at 2pm on Tuesdays in Tansley Village Hall, unless otherwise specified.

            What is theTuesday Club?

Marjorie and Ruby

The Tuesday Club is mainly for persons over the age of 60, though the club also welcomes others such as widows or widowers in need of companionship. Members must live in Tansley.
Members of the club meet every fortnight to socialise and chat. Once a month an outing is arranged, usually with a lunch or tea included. At the meetings held in the Tansley Village Hall there are speakers, slide shows, demonstrations, quizzes, musical afternoons, etc. See the programme of events below.

In addition to all this, members of the Tuesday Club also enjoy a five or six-day holiday to the seaside every year to a first class hotel, usually with evening entertainment.
"Anyone interested in joining the club would be most welcome. We are a very friendly group," says Marjorie, who runs the club along with Ruby.

Members are asked to help occasionally with the washing and drying of the tea cups at the meetings in the village hall. Tea hostesses are asked to donate a raffle prize on their rota day, and other members to donate one at a meeting during the year.

Tansley Tuesday Club had a very successful annual Cream Tea Afternoon, raising £494 for the club. Members and non-members alike had an excellent time at this very friendly event.
There were several stalls, including one selling home-made cakes and jams, and there were prizes galore on the tombola stall and in the raffle.
Club chairman Marjorie Ramwell would like to thank everyone who helped with the event and all those who supported it.

Forty members and friends of the Tuesday Club have just arrived back after spending five days at the Fairhaven Hotel in Weymouth, Dorset.

Tuesday Club chairman Marjorie says "We have had a lovely time and have been to Dorchester, Lyme Regis, West Bay near Bridport, Portland Bill  and have seen many of the beautiful villages in Dorset. We were entertained every night in the Hotel after we had had a game of bingo, many of our group winning excellent prizes at the bingo.  Everyone joined in the dancing and singing late into the evening and agreed they had had a wonderful holiday."

Tansley Tuesday Club chairman Marjorie Ramwell says that this year's  Annual Cream Tea, which featured various stalls including cakes, jewellery, tombola and a raffle, made a handsome profit of £460 for club funds. Marjorie would like to thank everyone who supported this event.
"It was pleasing to see so many non-members present," says Marjorie. "All agreed it was a fun, relaxing afternoon."

On 28th June 2011 the Tuesday Club went on a mystery drive around some of the villages in Nottinghamshire and along the Lime Tree Avenue in Clumber Park.

Group chairman Marjorie said: "The weather was perfect, not too hot, the scenery was beautiful, we have never seen so many red poppies in the meadows as we saw yesterday.  We finished off the drive with an excellent tea provided by the ladies of the Harthill Methodist Church."

Easter Bonnet Competition

Tuesday 19th April 2011

The winner was Flo Bradbury.
2nd place went to Jean Thornley
3rd place went to Marjorie Ramwell

Judge Vicki Raynes had around 32 amazing hats from which to choose the winners. A difficult task! It was a really fun afternoon, rounded off with a glass of wine and miniature Easter eggs.
